WORK HISTORY
Graduate Data Science Researcher @The Data Mine-Purdue University
Worked on the “Time Sensitive Chemical Identification Database” project at The Data Mine for Dow. This initiative focused on designing a comprehensive, searchable database for peroxide-forming chemicals—substances that become increasingly hazardous as they age. The project involved developing an efficient database schema and collaborating on a web-based application capable of classifying chemicals through multiple identifiers, including CAS numbers, SMILES strings, and common names.
EDUCATION
Dr. S.S. Bhatnagar UICET, Panjab University
Bachelor of Engineering - BE
Purdue University
Master of Science - MS
ABOUT NIKITA RAO
I\'m a Chemical Engineering passionate about blending data science with innovative engineering solutions. My journey has taken me from hands-on work with the Government of India, where I helped improve process efficiency in water resources, to exciting projects at Purdue’s The Data Mine and Evergen. In my current role as a Graduate Data Science Researcher for Dow, I\'m developing real-time dashboards and predictive models that catch issues early and boost operational efficiency. I love using tools like SQL, Power BI, and Python to dive into data and uncover insights that lead to smarter decisions—whether it’s optimizing reaction kinetics or enhancing process control. Outside the classroom and lab, I enjoy exploring emerging energy systems and sustainable practices, like the solar-powered micro irrigation systems project I led. I’m always eager to connect with fellow professionals who are passionate about innovation and data-driven engineering. Let’s connect and explore how we can push the boundaries of what’s possible together!
