In my career that spans both the technical industry and the military, I have learned there are key ingredients that comes with success when working with customers. First and foremost, you must always focus on the outcome whether it is a mission, an objective or a customer\'s business. By focusing on the outcome, I am able to work with the customer to overcome unanticipated obstacles and take advantage of emerging opportunities. I take great satisfaction in recognizing the success of my customers and my partners as I view it as my success as well. When they make decisions to partner with me and follow my technical advice, they are doing more than simply choosing a technology, they are betting their company, their job and the future of their organization on my recommendations. This is something I take very seriously. In my experience in the military, when you are wrong, consequences are severe. In business, those consequences take on a very different aspect. They are still as important to those involved and I find important to remember that the advice is something I can trust that customers and partners will benefit from in the long term.
