ABOUT NIKI STREALY RDN CSDH
The first thing you should know about me: I love talking about what goes in, and what comes out of the digestive tract. At the table, during dinner parties, with clients, friends, strangers, over email, and anything in between.I began having diarrhea in my early teens. At age 13, after a slew of medical tests, my doctor labeled me with irritable bowel syndrome or IBS. Due to my own early experiences, I became fascinated by the anatomy and physiology of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. As I began my career as a registered dietitian (RD), it became my passion to educate patients on how and what to eat for their digestive problems.For several years I worked in hospital critical care and surgical units, seeing a lot of people with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, gastric bypass, and cancer surgeries. Since 2002, however, I have focused on outpatient nutrition counseling, specializing in GI diseases and disorders. My professional training and personal experiences with chronic diarrhea have given me a unique understanding of and empathy for what my clients are going through. In 2016 I was diagnosed with celiac disease through a blood test and small intestinal biopsy. It has given me a new layer to discuss with patients!I self-published \"The Diarrhea Dietitian: Expert Advice, Practical Solutions, and Strategic Nutrition\" in May 2013.Strategic Nutrition, LLC is the name of my publishing company and private practice. I enjoy meeting one-on-one with patients and colleagues, as well as presenting at workshops, conferences, and meetings.
