About Sainikhilreddy Pendayala

Some engineers write code. Others build systems that outlast them. Most backend engineers will tell you what they know. Fewer will tell you what they\'ve actually broken, fixed, and rebuilt from the ground up.Five years ago, the journey started with a simple idea — backend software should be fast, clean, and invisible to the people who depend on it. That belief has since shaped work across a rewards platform handling millions of transactions, an enterprise system migrated to the cloud, hosting infrastructure serving thousands of users, and today, a diagnostics platform that helps automotive engineers understand vehicles at a level that wasn\'t possible before. The stack has grown — Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, AWS, Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ — but the instinct has stayed the same: find the slowest part, fix it properly, and leave the codebase better than it was found. What gets this engineer out of bed isn\'t the technology. It\'s the moment a complex system finally clicks — when an API that used to take seconds responds in milliseconds, when a team\'s integration headache becomes a clean contract, when parallel processing turns a bottleneck into a non-issue.Currently building backend infrastructure at General Motors. Always thinking about the next hard problem worth solving.

This is where the problems got harder — and more interesting. At General Motors, the work sits at the intersection of automotive engineering and backend software. The platform being built helps service engineers and vehicle teams diagnose faults, explore wiring diagrams, and visualize entire vehicle systems in 3D — in real time, across multiple languages, for multiple vehicle programs simultaneously. The backend owns it all: the business logic, the database layer, the 3D asset pipelines pulling from AWS S3, the AI-driven localization engine translating service content across 7+ languages, and the APIs that other internal teams build their own products on top of.The shift from previous roles to this one wasn\'t just a change in domain — it was a step up in the complexity of what needed to be built, and the care required to build it right.
