ABOUT NIKA ZAWILA

I lead teams and care about people. As the Head of Engineering at Babbel, I lead the engineering efforts for the Monetisation Pillar in Growth Cluster, overseeing a talented team that includes three EMs and four Principal Engineers focused on Monetisation.Beyond my core duties, I am passionate about driving initiatives that enhance our engineering culture and practices. I co-champion the introduction of Tech Radar at Babbel, aiming to streamline our technology adoption and innovation processes. Additionally, I lead the revamp of our engineering documentation at scale, ensuring clarity and accessibility for all team members.I am deeply committed to promoting diversity and inclusion within the tech industry. At Babbel, I am involved in initiatives like FLINTA in Tech, where we aim to improve the work/life of our non-male identifying engineers, and the Equality Metrics project, where we highlight data points on gender pay gaps, equality pay, and other metrics. Additionally, I have been part of a dedicated workgroup that introduced Inclusive Language Guidelines for our tech documentation. These guidelines are designed to ensure that our communication is respectful, accessible, and representative of all individuals, fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion across all platforms, including Doc.babbel, Jira, Confluence, and GitHub.
