ABOUT NIGEL ROBERTS
I’m a metallurgist by training and founder of Engineering Acquisitions Ltd — the group behind Megasteel, Sweetnam & Bradley, and Megasteel Ropes.I started Megasteel from scratch and built it into the UK’s largest supplier of prestressing wire and strand. We supply over tonnes a year and have long-standing partnerships with global mills. I also co-founded Megasteel Ropes, and acquired Sweetnam & Bradley, a respected UK engineering firm.I’ve spent nearly four decades building solid businesses in steel and engineering — always focused on long-term relationships, technical quality, and financial discipline. I’m hands-on, commercially minded, and still deeply involved in the operational and technical side of the work.I’ve worked internationally for years — negotiating supply contracts, dealing with logistics challenges, and navigating shifting trade and standards environments.These days, I’m focused on succession planning, strategic development, and helping the next generation take things forward — both within my companies and in the wider industry. I’m also involved in philanthropy, education, and governance.If it involves engineering, steel, or business done properly — I’m interested.
