ABOUT NIGEL MCGIMPSEY
I am a senior commercial and transformation leader with over two decades of experience building growth, shaping go-to-market strategy, and strengthening operational and risk foundations within complex, regulated environments.I have held leadership roles across organisations including BP, Mastercard, Barclays, and the British Standards Institution (BSI), with accountability for multi-million-pound portfolios, SME and partner channels, and cross-functional teams spanning sales, marketing, product, and risk. My work has consistently focused on turning strategy into execution — launching new propositions, scaling digital acquisition, and delivering sustainable commercial growth without compromising governance or control. In recent roles, I led strategic transformation across SME and partnership ecosystems, combining commercial ambition with disciplined risk management. This included the design and launch of digital platforms, new credit-aware propositions, and partner models that delivered material revenue growth while improving decision quality, resilience, and operational confidence.Alongside my executive roles, I am the author of The Resilient SME, which distils practical experience into a structured framework for understanding why some SMEs absorb pressure and grow while others quietly become fragile. Building on this work, I developed a concise resilience diagnostic that translates these insights into business-ready decision support. The diagnostic is intentionally non-emotive and proportionate, designed to strengthen leadership conversations rather than replace judgement.I am now focused on senior leadership roles where commercial strategy, SME growth, transformation, and risk-aware decision-making intersect. I also continue to apply the resilience framework selectively through partner collaboration and advisory engagement where it strengthens propositions or informs portfolio-level decisions.I value thoughtful conversations with boards, executive teams, and recruiters seeking experienced leaders who combine commercial delivery with disciplined governance and a clear understanding of what actually drives sustainable performance.
