ABOUT NIGEL THORPE

An experienced helicopter pilot and instructor with a broad pedigree of combat operations and training roles in varied environments globally. A strong and capable team leader demonstrated during 26 years of military service and subsequently in the private sector- Currently responsible for courseware continuous improvement seeking the best balance for the trainee, the customer and my business. I oversee, streamline and constantly review the courseware for staff and trainee training, delivering that training to over 200 aircrew trainees for the UK MOD and its NATO partners- As a Central Flying School Accredited Instructor (CAI) I train staff and instructors to deliver advanced flying training (including PBN IR, low-level NVD and tactical formation) to ab initio trainees (both UK and overseas aircrew)- An A2 (Above Average) Qualified Helicopter Instructor flying the Airbus Helicopters H135 T3H and the H145 D2H, with in excess of hours instructing. I have broad experience within military aviation training including developing new training solutions and regulatory compliant documentation- Confident and experienced public speaker having delivered to senior executive level in both the military and civilian environment. Experience with live television and radio interviews and commentary. I have commentated live to an audience in excess of 500 people at airshOws across the UK- Recent experience in cutting edge synthetic training, including courseware design and review, User Acceptance Testing and hands-on instruction- A proven team leader and member, but equally adept at working independently- Unique career profile having been qualified as Rearcrew, Weapon Systems Officer and Pilot, giving a broad range of expertise within the airborne environment.(Formerly a B1 Qualified Helicopter Crewman Instructor)- Proven ability to quickly learn complex technical theory and then apply it practically in operational scenarios- Security Cleared
