ABOUT NIGAR SHAIKH
I am Cleary Gottlieb\'s Pro Bono Attorney focused on managing the firm\'s pro bono litigation practice in NY and CA. Before Cleary, I litigated plaintiffs’ sex abuse, employment, antitrust, and consumer protection claims at Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP. Prior to LCHB, I worked on litigation and policy advocacy to advance gun safety as Counsel at Everytown Law. I began my career litigating civil and criminal matters across the US at the trial and appellate levels at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where I maintained my pro bono practice at the firm and on secondment with Brooklyn Legal Services. I currently serve as president of the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (“STOP”), a non-profit advocacy organization and legal services provider dedicated to challenging state and local officials’ use of discriminatory surveillance technologies. I graduated from Berkeley Law, where I served as student government president. I earned BAs in Human Biology and Political Science and honors in International Security Studies from Stanford, where I competed nationally as part of the university\'s cheerleading and Bollywood dance teams.
