About Nidal Karim

What does it look like to value and elevate equity focused innovations for social change? I am a facilitation, evaluation, research, learning, and strategy development consultant committed to assisting organizations and communities do just that. For over 15 years I have supported teams and institutions to evolve their approaches, processes, and systems to be more intersectional, feminist, and equity and justice centred. As a Community Psychologist with a focus on gender justice my work has spanned across academic, government, and civil society settings in varied geographical contexts.My lived experiences deeply inform my worldview and the theoretical and conceptual frameworks I draw on. My work is driven by a strong belief in the power of indigenous and community driven collective responses to systems of oppression. All along my professional journey I have invested in growing my knowledge and critical analyses through my work on gender justice and gender based-violence research, monitoring and evaluation, programming, and advocacy. As a lifelong learner I am constantly striving to deepen my practice in creating and facilitating safe, nurturing, transformative spaces and structures that center the voices and self-determination of communities and peoples around the world who have faced marginalization. My colleagues and co-conspirators appreciate my overall ethics and integrity, ability to make meaningful connections across a vast set of ideas and networks, facilitative leadership, and my bridge building skills in cross-cultural environments.My personal and professional lives are purposefully intertwined by my commitment to social justice and healing. I formerly served on the board of the Refugee Women’s Network and have been a part of several grassroots organizing efforts for immigrant rights, racial justice, and voting rights.
