ABOUT NICO SCHMALZ

As former Senior Managing Consultant at IBM, with more than 9 years of experience in DevSecOps solutions and engineering, I have proven in-depth knowledge of design, implementation, and operations of software delivery automation systems and processes.In my role as Manager of the “DevOps Engineering DACH” department with 13 employees and Deputy Division Manager of the “DevSecOps & IT-Automation Practice DACH” with more than 65 employees, I have successfully grown and applied my leadership skills in a challenging environment.Business challenges on the one hand and department & team development (learning, education, talent, and business strategies for DACH region) on the other hand were part of my daily business.Throughout my career I have led several (scaled) agile development teams across multiple continents and industries, such as Automotive, Engineering, Industrial Products, and Travel & Transportation.In my latest project I am responsible for a European IBM project delivery platform with more than IBM and client users across various software stacks. Successfully leading a development and an operations team with 30+ individuals within distributed, multicultural teams in software development and system operations, expanded by Client Management, Incident Management, and Service Management, has provided me with important business insights into multiple industries.My responsibility within the project for my employees covers all levels of expertise: Senior Professionals, Young Professionals, Students, and Interns.
