I never imagined my calling would be in training, learning, and development. My career spanned university lecture halls, where I earned a BS in Legal Studies to courtrooms and community centers as a paralegal and social worker. In every role, I brought my commitment to integrity and an insatiable thirst for knowledge.But something was missing - a sense of fulfillment. Then, quite unexpectedly, I discovered my passion for empowering others through learning and development.I was serving as a customer service agent at an Amazon delivery station. My role was akin to a bridge, overcoming delivery obstacles by providing information to the delivery drivers for successful re-delivery attempts. However, I noticed that re-deliveries were not happening as they should.As dedicated to success that I am, I decided to talk with the drivers about this. I discovered our drivers were not trained in how to handle re-deliveries at all. I brought this issue up with my manager and found out that there indeed wasn\'t any training focused on re-deliveries. Seeing an opportunity for improvement, I proposed creating and implementing such a training program during my lunch breaks.After getting the green light, I designed and facilitated this new training program. The result? Our delivery success rates soared high into the sky along with our customer satisfaction scores! This experience illuminated several key insights for me.Firstly, it underscored the power of individual impact - regardless of one\'s position within an organization. Secondly, it highlighted the wealth of knowledge that can be gleaned from direct conversations with any employee when crafting training initiatives. Lastly, it demonstrated how effective training programs can empower employees to make informed decisions and excel in their roles.I was immediately offered to transition to the role of Learning & Development Coordinator, and finally, I found my calling. To this day, every decision I make concerning the creation or facilitation of a training program is guided by this principle: always align employee feedback with company objectives. Today, as a Training, Learning, and Development Professional I leverage my communication skills to tailor messaging to various audiences and engage and influence senior stakeholders.
