ABOUT NICOLE HOOKER

I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Chartered Ergonomist & Human Factors Specialist with a Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction. As the Lead Human Factors Specialist at Leonardo UK, I oversee the growth and capability development of Human Factors within the Electronic Warfare sector. My responsibilities include securing and supervising a diverse portfolio of projects across Air, Maritime, and Land domains, while fostering collaboration across government and industry. A central focus of my work is to advance the understanding and integration of Human Factors principles both within Leonardo UK and across the broader defence community. Expertise in Human-Centred Design & ResearchWith extensive experience in User-Centred Design, Affective Computing, Behavioural and Cognitive Psychology, and Human Factors Integration, I specialise in usability, user engagement, system design and integration, and Human-Autonomy Teaming. I am skilled in conducting mixed-methods research, usability testing, trials, and experimental studies to deliver practical, user-focused solutions. My approach is rooted in applying evidence-based methods to create systems that are intuitive, effective, and tailored to user needs.
