About Nicole Guerrieri
After seven years at Staples Promotional Products (Corporate Express), working with big brands like Apple, I started looking for ways to make the branded merchandise industry better for everyone. The solution came to me on a visit to a big supplier in Florida. The warehouse was impeccable, filled with a billion dollars worth of inventory. Their office was filled with customer service reps who knew everything about every order. Trendspotters had just returned from a trip to Asia with new products, fabrics and ideas. The crew printing logos onto products were like artisans. I asked, why do middleman distributors attempt to recreate this? To do so is redundant, costly and creates a horrible experience for customers. The product expertise is at the supplier not the distributor. So, I set out to build a better model…and it worked! The solution was a tech-enabled portal that focused exclusively on big brands. We won every RFP with promised savings, better service and guaranteed brand protection. My company grew from an idea to $40 million so quickly it was #8 on the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing companies and #1 on Crain’s Fast Fifty. I built the model, evangelized the supply chain, inspired a team and designed the technology, all while securing and maintaining multiyear, multimillion-dollar contracts with major advertisers including AT & T, American Airlines, BP, Chase, Chevron, Citigroup and State Farm. Unfortunately, venture capital investors chose to sell the company to private equity and I was unable to finish what I started. Until now.
