ABOUT NICOLE DORAY
I advance climate action and community wellbeing through strategy, facilitation, and human-centered design. My superpowers are:Impact Strategy: I’ve spent the past 5+ years spearheading the strategic direction and delivery of equity-based climate programs- most recently as the Acting Director and Senior Manager of Sustainable Communities at the David Suzuki Foundation.Facilitation & Design: I’ve facilitated over 250+ workshops, convenings and design sprints to help shape community-led climate solutions. Past clients include the United Nations Association, Water and Sanitation for All, IRC WASH, and ChangemakersXChange. People Management: I’m known for building aligned and trusting teams. Together, we navigate the complexity of compounding social & ecological crises. My personal superpower though, is my ability to see the world through multiple (sometimes conflicting) lenses. I’m from a multi-faith, multi-cultural family with Sri Lankan and Ashkenazi ancestry. I speak 3 languages and am privileged to have lived, worked, and played in 25+ countries. Growing up in communities of different backgrounds, religions, politics, and values means I appreciate empathetic, curious, and open-minded dialogue. I think we need more of it in the world - especially in climate justice.I have received the honour of the Governor’s Award of Distinction, the Top 30 Under 30 Changemakers award, the Herbert H. Carnegie Award, and the Toyota Earth Day Award.
