Having worked in Higher Education for 10 years, I have found the three biggest problems faced by post-secondary programs and EdTech companies designing products for adult learners are: Students are not getting enough real-world learning experiences, leading to lower retention rates and decreased job opportunities. College and career access is inequitable, leaving under-resourced adult learners out of the picture. AI is here and now in Education, but educators are inundated by new products that simply weren’t designed with students or educators in mind. My approach to solving these problems blends my expertise in Higher Ed teaching & leadership, experiential learning design, and AI-informed pedagogy, with an emphasis on placing key stakeholders–educators & students–at the center. As a humanities PhD, I bring a swiss-army knife of skillsets to solve these challenges, including critical & creative thinking, a tolerance for ambiguities, and a keen ability to solve open-ended problems.
