My career as a mechanic in the International Union of Elevator Constructors has given me the chance to both be an officer for my union as well as volunteer to increase diversity not only in my own trade but also others. I am fortunate to speak on the importance on diversity, equity and inclusion in both the skilled trades and other similar industries. I hope to continue this work to increase both recruitment and retention of women and other underrepresented groups into the trades.
