About Nicole Sorensen

Behavioral scientist and organizational leader with 17+ years of experience designing, implementing, and scaling behavior support systems across clinical, educational, and residential settings. My work blends applied research, data-informed intervention design, and high-fidelity staff training to improve decision-making and outcomes at the systems level. A core focus of my leadership is restraint elimination. I lead multi-site initiatives that replace restrictive practices with positive behavior supports, trauma-informed strategies, and measurable implementation frameworks that prioritize safety, dignity, and sustainability. This work requires close collaboration with executive teams, regulators, and interdisciplinary partners to translate behavioral science into practice. My work increasingly bridges operations and policy. I am currently an EdD candidate in Applied Leadership at UW–Green Bay, where my research examines the infrastructure and policy conditions needed to deliver contemporary, restraint-free supports at scale.
