Program Development and Management – Established Sustainability Program at the City of Flagstaff. Develop program goals, objective and performance indicators. Spearhead municipal sustainability plan, climate resiliency and preparedness efforts. Direct community initiatives including residential energy efficiency programming, open space acquisition and community agriculture. Since 2007 residential programming has reduced energy consumption by 22 million kilowatt hours, saving community participants $2.3 million on utility bills, protected 2,700 acres of land in perpetuity, and established five community gardens. Leadership and Organizational Culture – Designed adaptation and resiliency planning framework and facilitated organizational initiatives including the 2012 Climate Resiliency and Preparedness Study. Collaborated with diverse stakeholders and organizational leadership to develop local and state policies that uphold the tenets of sustainability. Performance Management and Accountability – Served as a key technical advisor for bridging climate science to local government operations in the community and region. Created baseline sustainability index for municipal operations, established verifiable protocol for municipal and community greenhouse gas inventories, direct municipal sustainability plan.Resource Development and Fiscal Management – Secured $10 million in state, federal, and foundation funding for municipal and community initiatives since 2007. Managed multi-million dollar financing and contracts to develop renewable energy portfolio of 1.5 megawatts (~10% of organization’s energy use).
