Assists the Governors Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) for disaster assistance and emergency management in the Joint Information Center (JIC) for wildfires, earthquakes and any disasters in California-Researches and strategically responds to media issues and inquiries and acts as a Department spokesperson-Researches, analyzes, writes and edits strategic ADA accessible media responses, press releases, briefing papers, talking points, speeches, news articles, op-eds, media advisories, fact sheets, correspondence, periodic status reports, social media posts and other materials-May research and prepare policy speeches for the Directorate to address departmental issues to high-level policy makers, constituents, and the media-Conducts fact-finding interviews with Headquarters and district staff to advise the Directorate on media issues-Reviews media releases from the Department\'s districts or divisions across the state that have major consequences on political and/or sensitive issues-Ensures a consistent message of the Department’s public relations goals-May serve as a liaison between district Public Information Offices and the HQ Division of Public Affairs on media matters, including social media such as Twitter and Facebook-Reviews, edits, and prepares ADA accessible social media posts and other web content to inform the public of projects and departmental events, increase awareness of the Department’s achievements and help manage public perception of the Department-Helps develop strategic communication and media plans to pitch news stories-Develops and disseminates information via print, radio, TV, and social media and other web content through written responses and on-camera interviews, to stakeholders and the public that are favorable to the Department.Coordinates with the Department\'s districts and divisions to compile and develop reports for upcoming events attended by the Director, media events, media stories, legislative updates
