Serves as liaison with private and religious schools to ensure DCPS adheres to the district’s “Child Find” obligations under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004• Completes classroom observations of students to collect historical and behavioral data to support eligibility decisions for special education services and Individualized Education Program (IEP) development• Uses assessment data to determine and support appropriate academic interventions• Provides the IEP team with special education and general education curriculum content relevant to all disability classification needs, and to ensure alignment with Common Core State Standards• Collaborates with private and religious schools to deliver professional development sessions on implementing differentiated instructional strategies and supports• Serves as an expert in special education and general education, consultation to private and religious schools, parents, education advocates, and district office staff in special education matters• Provides guidance to school district personnel regarding special education and general education policies and federal legislation for students with disabilities• Qualified as an expert witness, provides testimony in Special Education Due Process Proceedings• Serves as the Local Education Agency Representative during special education meetingsServes as the Special Education Specialist or General Education Specialist in Multidisciplinary Team meetings.
