About Nicole Kappaz
In December 2024, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering and minors in Sustainability Studies and Sustainability and the Built Environment. I am currently seeking a position where I can apply my academic and hands-on experience to make a meaningful impact on the environment.My passion for ocean and coastal protection has been a driving force in my life from an early age - I earned my PADI Open Water Dive Certification at just 12 years old and started my first coastal protection club, a branch of the Surfrider Foundation, at 14. Over time, that passion has grown into a broader commitment to environmental sustainability in areas such as sustainable design, environmental planning and management, renewable energy, natural area conservation and restoration, climate change, and environmental compliance. These interests influenced my honors thesis, “The Physical and Biological Effects of Global Climate Change on Shark Populations,” where I explored the complex relationship between marine ecosystems and our changing climate.Through classwork and an internship with Keep Pinellas Beautiful, I have experience working through engineering design and development, remediation and fieldwork, collecting, sampling, and analyzing data, transforming data into visual elements, preparing technical reports, and permitting and regulatory compliance, all of which I am eager to apply to my career as an environmental engineer. I’m looking to join a company that values sustainability, innovation, inclusion, collaboration, and integrity. I bring a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to lead or collaborate as needed.
