ABOUT NICOLE HAMBLIN
Respected drug discovery scientist and senior leader with over 25 years’ experience in the industry. Currently in post as Chief Discovery and Early Development Officer in a UK Biotech startup working in stealth mode. In my previous role at Charles River I was a member of the Early Discovery senior leadership team, with responsibility for more than 250 scientists engaged in small molecule drug discovery contract research. The team spanned Medicinal and Synthetic Chemistry, in vitro pharmacology, ADME/ DMPK, CADD, Analytical Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Development, engaged in all aspects of integrated drug discovery and pre-clinical development. Prior to that, I spent 20 years at GlaxoSmithKline, as a medicinal chemist, line manager and senior project leader, leading large multidisciplinary teams to achieve key milestones from hit identification to candidate selection and through to Phase II clinical studies. Extensive publication and patent record, with demonstrated success in delivering clinical candidates. I am a mentor and trained coach and I am very active in the external UK scientific community, holding various roles supporting the RSC and SCI, leading conference organising committees and serving on MRC grant review panels.
