   As a Director of Engineering at Expedia, I led an org of ~60 people across backend (Kotlin), frontend (JavaScript/React), iOS, Android, and infrastructure. Together we modernized platforms, improved reliability, and delivered business-critical initiatives with multi-million-dollar impact.I spearheaded the Universal Shopping initiative, presenting a new architectural vision to the C-suite and successfully launching Ground Transportation and Cruise search on a shared stack. This consolidation reduced costs, improved delivery speed, and unlocked seamless cross-platform experiences across iOS, Android, and Web. In parallel, my team also delivered high-impact partner and member features — including sign-in banners and optimized merchandising — that more than doubled engagement and drove significant conversion gains. Similarly, we raised the usability scores and feature engagement across Maps and Sort/Filter significantly.As an org, we improved operational health and efficiency: cutting test runtimes by 50%, reducing rollback time from 20 to 8 minutes, enabling progressive deployments across 100+ engineers, and shifting to follow-the-sun on-call (an initiative I spearheaded). Cloud optimization — from autoscaling to Graviton adoption — saved millions, while resiliency strategies like bulkheading prevented outages during significant traffic spikes.I also focused on leadership and culture, expanding scope with new teams in Austin and coaching new managers into senior roles. Most recently, we delivered the U.S. FTC mandate for total price display in 2025, running 50+ experiments to mitigate revenue risk and launching with zero negative impact — saving the company millions and earning recognition for execution excellence under pressure.
