ABOUT NICOLE DE CARVALHO
I am a highly organized & detail-oriented Certified Planning Technician with over two years of professional experience in urban planning and design. With expertise in using tools such as Esri ArcGIS PRO, QGIS, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, and Adobe Creative Cloud, I have successfully completed various GIS-based projects, including a project that evaluated walkability within cities and facilitated site-selection for mixed-used developments. I have worked on concept plans for mixed-use, residential, and institutional sites, I have developed site plans for various developments, and I have completed draft plans of subdivision, and map figures for planning justification reports and urban design briefs. My education includes a GIS & Urban Planning Diploma from Fanshawe College, where I worked on multiple projects, winning 2nd place in both the 2022 Fanshawe Urban Design Charrette and TD Environmental Design Competition. I hold a H.BSc in Ecology & Biology from the University of Toronto, where I conducted lab work, field work, and completed a GIS-based independent research project with TRCA data. I have provided excellent client service within office and retail environments for over 10 years. As a former Senior Associate at BMO Nesbitt Burns, I provided outstanding client service to a client base of over 300 households while efficiently completing client requests and trades, and demonstrated creative problem-solving skills to execute complicated client requests in a timely fashion. My key skills include ArcGIS PRO, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Python, and Arcade. I possess excellent communication and teamwork skills and have proven my ability to research and analyze data through conducting site analyses and writing reports and research papers. I have received several awards and certificates, including completing the Canadian Securities Course, Conduct and Practices Handbook, and several placements on the Dean\'s Honour Roll at Fanshawe College. As a GIS and Urban Planning Peer Tutor at Fanshawe College and a Peer Mentor at the University of Toronto, I have shown my passion for leadership and mentoring. I also held several leadership roles while studying at the University of Toronto, including Vice President and Social Director of the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Student Union, New College Orientation Leader, and I was the First-Year Student Representative for Fanshawe College at CACPT. I am excited to bring my skills and experience to new challenges and opportunities in the field of urban planning and design!
