Nicole Schechter Darnell is a Miami native whose career bridges art, design, and culture. She began her journey at the Denver Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, and a private art collection before moving to New York City, where she became Director of Friedman Benda, one of the world’s foremost contemporary design galleries. Over two decades, she produced landmark exhibitions for renowned designers and artists including Ettore Sottsass, Forrest Myers, Tadanori Yokoo, nendo, Diane von Furstenberg, and led Joris Laarman’s first major U.S. solo exhibition.Returning to Miami, Nicole co-founded BOXELDER, a cultural hub merging craft beer, design, gastronomy and community, before joining DESIGN MIAMI as Executive Vice President of Fairs and Production. In this role, she oversees the full planning, build, and on-site execution of the internationally acclaimed fairs in Miami, Los Angeles, and Paris. She manages large-scale global productions, coordinates with top galleries and partners, and ensures the seamless integration of design, architecture, and culture that defines the brand’s international reputation.Simultaneously, she serves as Senior Event Director of MIAMI CONCOURS, the prestigious automotive showcase of hypercars, vintage supercars, and iconic automotive design in the Miami Design District.Across every role, Nicole is driven by her passion for creating transformative experiences that expand the dialogue between design, innovation, and culture.
