About Nicole D. Murphy

Nicole is an innovative energy equity strategist at one of the largest Black Woman-owned utilities in the United States. Her strategies focus on disadvantaged communities participating in the clean economy to receive social, economic, and health benefits. The goal is decarbonization, and Nicole\'s strategies ensure marginalized communities will join the transition. By using place-based solutions and emerging energy efficiency technologies, everyone will have a seat at the clean energy table! Nicole is committed to resisting the harmful effects of climate change through advocacy, education, policymaking, and technological solutions. Raised in Ferguson, Missouri, Nicole understands how vital equity is to resist the everyday effects of environmental racism. Nicole\'s passion for climate policy ignited in 2017 when she became the first Black woman to win the National Debate Tournament by debating the following resolution.\"Resolved: The United States Federal Government should establish a domestic climate policy, including at least substantially increasing restrictions on private sector emissions of greenhouse gases in the United States.\" During graduate school, Nicole was an international equity consultant. Nicole engaged in multidisciplinary practices and was honored to work on premier projects such as designing anti-harassment training programs in Shanghai, China, and as an assistant communication consultant for Rihanna\'s \"Savage Fenty Environmental Justice campaign (2020). Upon graduation, Nicole continued pursuing her passion for energy justice by joining food insecurity organizations such as Black Market (Lousiville, KY) and Global Revival (Waco, TX)(20••••22).
