As Manager of Product Regulatory and Trade Compliance, it is my job to make sure that all prodcts imported by Daiso are safe for our customers while also meeting all US federal, state, and local product regulations, in addition to all Canadian regulations. My team works closely with our Customs brokers, product testing agency, our parent company in Japan, and our ourseas manufacturers to fulfill our role as the quality control and compliance department.I have assembled a brilliant team that has been eager to learn about laws and agency regulations such as the CPSC; Children\'s Product regulations and labeling requirements; FHSA; LHAMA; EPA; FIFRA; TSCA Title I & VI; US FIsh and Wildlife; Lacey Act; FCC; FDA food, food contact, medical device, cosmetics, and OTC drug regulations; FTC; Fair Package & Labeling Act; USDA; APHIS; AMS; and certified organic regulations, not to mention the numerous California, New York, and Washington state product regulations and hazardous waste regulations. With such a wider variety of consumer products offered by Daiso stores, there are very few agencies that we don\'t deal with on a daily basis.Some of the most challenging aspects of my roll involve resolving situations where our products or processes are not perfect, such as dealing with the repurcussions of a poor production run or a product labeling issue which results in a product recall or lawsuit. As manager, it is my responsibility to interact with the appropriate government agencies, Daiso\'s Legal team, or outside counsel as we work towards a resolution. I also interact with federal and state inspectors who stop by our stores or warehouses to conduct random inspections of Daiso products and then work with the appropriate teams to resolve anything the inspector might find amis.
