ABOUT NICOLE BURCHELL-ISENOR

Since January 2023, I proudly represent the Halifax International Airport Authority in the position of Director, People & Inclusion. I am responsible for all aspects of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, which entails developing, maintaining and implementing policies and training programs. In addition to this role, I am responsible for providing overall strategic HR leadership to managers and employees including development and implementation of human resources policies and employee programs and services, which includes recruitment, selection, retention, legal compliance, employee benefits and compensation, employee relations, and labour relations, employee communications, job evaluation and organizing employee events. I have over over 25 years of experience in Human Resource Management and specialize in Labour Relations. Born in Nova Scotia, I have worked my way through various management roles and have always been responsible for all areas of human resources and labour relations including collective bargaining. I\'ve worked as a Manager in a unionized environment in private industry, in Municipal Government as a Labour Relations Consultant, and my current position is in an International Airport. I attended Queen’s University and hold a certificate in Labour Relations and a certificate in Mental Health in Leadership. My work history illustrates strong strategic management skills, a solid background in labour relations and human resources management. I have exceptional understanding of positive employee relations, and maintain a firm focus on collaborative outcomes. Often characterized for my “big picture” perspective, I pride myself on being a solutions-driven strategist. I have facilitated training in both the private and public sector on Union Management Relationships, Managing within a Collective Agreement, Human Rights, and Performance Management. I champion fairness and innovation in areas of recruitment, employee recognition and performance management to create work environments that engage and inspire.
