ABOUT NICOLE BORRERO
I am the Coordinating Producer for South Florida PBS\'(WPBT2/WXEL) public affairs programming. I have over 20 years of experience in production. My current duties involve producing the monthly public affairs program Your South Florida hosted by veteran, Emmy-winning journalist Pam Giganti, which won a regional Emmy in 2019. I joined WPBT2 as the producer for KidVisionVPK in January 2008. As producer, I was responsible for developing 5-10 minute educational virtual field trips for teachers, parents and students involved in Florida’s Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten. I moved to public affairs in January 2009. In my role as associate producer, I was responsible for topic research and contacting and securing guests for 2 of our public affairs programs; Issues and Haiti Journal. In addition to my duties as associate producer, in July 2009, I took over as producer for our religion and ethics program Viewpoint. As producer I was responsible for coming up with topics, securing guests, writing the script and line producing on the day of taping. In the fall of 2009, I was approached to produce a project for WPBT Channel 2’s for profit subsidiary Comtel. The end result was a 30 minute infomercial for Dr. Thrower’s Skin Care System which the client is using as a promotional tool for his line of products. I have also been associate producer & producer for many of our specials/call-ins including:(2018 Emmy Nom) Parkland: The Way Forward (a South Florida special)- producer Haiti: A Community Conversation; Nou Bouke: A WPBT2 Live Discussion Early Care & Education: A Guide for Parents Too Close To Home: Local Roundtable South Florida’s Rising Seas: Roundtable Discussion Local Roundtable Discussion: Sex Predators Unleashed I was the associate producer for our limited investigative series, Issues Reports. In this position, I scheduled, organized and co-produced field productions and interviews, produced promos for broadcast and assisted editors in edits.
