ABOUT NICOLE ANN PONCE

Climate and human rights lawyer from the Philippines. I have with a strong interest in the intersection of law, science, and policy. I hold degrees in political science and law, have a background in research, and I\'m admitted to the Philippine Bar.I am the Co-Founder and Advocacy Lead of World’s Youth for Climate Justice (WYCJ), where I previously served as Asian Front Convenor.My work focuses on the application of international law to climate justice, including issues related to climate change, human rights, intergenerational equity, peace and security, and the recognition of the rights of future generations.On 23 July 2025, the global youth movement and the ICJ AO alliance, led by PISFCC and WYCJ, obtained a unanimous decision from the International Court of Justice on its request for an Advisory Opinion on climate change and human rights. Following this historic ruling, my focus will be on the implementation and integration of the advisory opinions from the ICJ, IACtHR, ITLOS and the upcoming AfCHPR into different work streams, supporting existing efforts and leveraging the AO, as well as amplifying work that’s already been done by our partners communities and worldwide alliance. In addition, I work at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), Paris delegation (the French National Centre for Scientific Research), as a research officer.I am determined to use the advisory opinions of the ICJ, ITLOS, IACtHR, the AfCHPR to advance ambitious climate action at the international,regional and domestic context through efforts surrounding negotiations, litigation, and advocacy.
