1. Behavior Interventionist - Special Education Teacher

   This role works with students to teach replacement behaviors, emotional regulation, and self-awareness skills to individuals whose presentation of disability includes unexpected behavior responses. Students served in the classroom typically experience heavy levels of disciplinary action in school, and sometimes through the legal system, as a result of the unskillful behaviors they use in their day-to-day. Students served in this classroom represent a wide range of abilities, disabilities, and experiences, including presentations of ADHD, Autism Spectrum, childhood trauma, and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD).The goal of my work is to help these students reduce exposure to negative consequences by developing more skillful social and emotional behavioral skills. My behavior intervention program utilizes the Social Thinking curriculum, Character Strong, and Dr. Ross Greene\'s Collaborative Problem Solving strategy to explicitly teach these skills.
