ABOUT NICOLAS VERBEEK
I work as a government advisor to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on German cooperation with UN development and humanitarian organizations in crises and transition settings. Simultaneously, I am a policy-embedded practitioner researcher, conducting part-time PhD research on crisis-induced changes in the UN humanitarian and development system at the Faculty of Governance and Global Affairs, University of Leiden. Furthermore, I am spokesperson for the IR- and FPA research group of the Cologne Forum for International Relations and Security Policy (KFIBS) as well as author and editor of the group\'s edited volume on foreign policy in times of polycrises, which is expected to be published in 2026 by Springer VS. I have expertise in foreign policy and security policy, global governance and development cooperation, fragility and conflict, and development financing. I am always interested to connect with like-minded people, share experiences, and hear about exciting projects. Feel free to reach out!
