ABOUT NICOLAS TRILTSCH
My name is Nicolas Triltsch and I am an Associate Director, Image Analysis at AstraZeneca, a global pharmaceutical company specializing in the development of innovative therapies for cancer patients. I have a Master of Science in Technical Physics/Applied Physics from the Technical University of Munich and am an expert in image analysis and artificial intelligence (AI) in digital pathology.In my current role, I design, plan and implement AI-based image analysis solutions to support decision making in pre- and clinical drug programs, accelerate cancer research and find biomarkers for patient selection and stratification. I also collaborate in interdisciplinary teams of pathologists and translational scientists to analyze cancer tissue images of different imaging modalities such as immunohistochemistry (IHC) or immunofluorescence (IF) staining. My responsibility is to quantitatively measure the cells and structures in these images. To do this, I apply novel AI image analysis models, for example convolutional neural networks. My goal is to deepen the understanding of the tumor microenvironment at the cell, patient and cohort level to ultimately promote the development of biomarkers that enable the right treatment for the right patient.
