I joined this Foundation to make a difference in the lives of those affected with Friedreich\'s Ataxia - our mission is to bring people living with ataxia together, as well as the community of interest, in order to promote and protect the ataxic persons, improve their well-being and ultimately eradicate their disease.My nephew Max was diagnosed with FA in 2015, a disease that causes progressive damage to his nervous system. Over time, Max will experience muscle weakness in the arms and legs, loss of coordination, vision and hearing impairment, slurred speech, curvature of the spine, and heart disorders.There is currently no cure for Friedreich\'s Ataxia but great strides have been made with Dr. Jacques Tremblay\'s research with the next step being a human clinical trial.Significant funding is still needed to make the clinical trial happen.
