ABOUT NICOLAS LECLERC
As a former professional hockey player, I have always embraced challenges and sought to push my limits both on and off the ice. I played professional ice hockey for six seasons, balancing rigorous athletic commitments with academic responsibilities until I completed my engineering degree in France. In 2018, I temporarily retired from hockey to pursue a Master\'s degree and subsequently a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech. I returned to professional ice hockey in 2020 and played for four more seasons until my final retirement in 2024. During this period, I also worked part-time as a Design Engineer at Multiscale Technologies. After retiring from the sport, I transitioned to a full-time role as a Materials Data Scientist, where I focus on developing ML models for the company\'s data analysis tools. Concurrently, I am continuing my Ph.D. research, leveraging the Small Punch test for rapid and cost-effective mechanical characterization of metals. My journey from professional sports to engineering has equipped me with a unique set of skills, including teamwork, perseverance, resilience, problem-solving, and analytical thinking. I am driven by a desire to solve complex real-world problems and make meaningful contributions to the field, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in my professional pursuits.
