ABOUT NICOLAS BAUQUET
I am Director General of the Institut Paris Region (IPR), the urban planning and environment agency for the Paris metropolitan area, where I lead a team of over 200 professionals. At IPR, we work on the major transformations shaping territories today: infrastructure, mobility, land use, energy systems, industrial change, and climate adaptation. I coordinated the SDRIF-E, the regional master plan that sets the long-term direction for the Paris Region. My background combines public policy, research, and strategic advisory. I served as foresight adviser to the President of the Île-de-France Region and held senior roles at Institut Montaigne, where I worked on issues ranging from crisis management to the role of regions and the use of data in public policy. Earlier in my career, I spent several years abroad, in Rome and Taipei, working with public institutions, universities, and innovation ecosystems. This experience gave me a direct understanding of how different countries approach urban development and public policy. What interests me most is how ideas take shape in practice: how strategies are translated into decisions, projects, and long-term trajectories. I have always worked at the intersection between analysis and action, with a focus on making expertise useful — both for public decision-makers and for those involved in delivering projects on the ground.
