ABOUT NICOLA PEILL-MOELTER

In 2024 I’ve pivoted my career to focus on regenerative solutions. Regenerative solutions are innovative solutions that regenerate Nature, restoring biodiversity, ecosystems, soil, water, air to their natural, thriving state. My first two endeavors are Advisory Board Member at DESCycle and regenerative farming consulting through the Soil Food Web. DESCycle has a transformative technology that could revolutionize how electronic waste is processed, significantly reducing the cost and environmental impacts of this polluting industry. I look forward to contributing my decades of experience to accelerate DESCycle\'s success. I stumbled upon regenerative farming when I read the book Dirt to Soil by farmer Gabe Brown about the principles and benefits of regenerative farming. I became obsessed with the concept, recognizing that it is a cost-effective and scalable nature-based solution to address climate change and many other environmental and social problems. Over the past 5 years, I have been diving deep into the science and practices of regenerative farming and is putting the principles into practice at our family’s farm in Virginia. With the consulting certification and what I learn at our farm, I want to help California farmers transition to regenerative practices. Most recently, I was the Director of Sustainability Innovation at VMware where I collaborated with teams across VMware to develop features and functionality that have business value for our customers by reducing the private/public cloud infrastructure needed to run their workloads which leads to less energy use, carbon emissions and electronic waste. Prior to VMware, I worked at Akamai Technologies in various positions including senior product manager, principal solutions engineer and senior director of environmental sustainability. My role at VMware was the culmination of a 25-year career in high-tech industry (Akamai Technologies, TRW, Air Products & Chemicals) and academic training in engineering (Chemical Engineering/Computer Science Manhattan College) and environmental engineering science (PhD Caltech) that has evolved my belief that we can make the fastest progress addressing the world’s most urgent sustainability issues when sustainability and business value are aligned.Specialties: Corporate strategy, goal setting and execution; technology innovation; technical sales; corporate sustainability; greenhouse gas accounting and reporting; renewable energy technologies; energy efficiency technology evaluation; server and data center & IT efficiency; regenerative farming; soil health.
