ABOUT NICO DE JONGH

I’m a Chemical/Bioprocess Engineer focused on bridging the gap between research and industrial execution — through process scale-up, smart data use, and practical innovation. I work at the intersection of MSAT, CQV, scale-up, tech transfer, bioreactor design, process modelling and data/automation infrastructure. Over the past several years in an innovative biotech startup environment, I’ve contributed to turning early concepts into operational bioprocess systems that are scalable, traceable, and progressively closer to GMP expectations. I contribute most value when helping teams: • Develop and scale upstream, downstream and media-related processes • Apply CQV and MSAT principles to equipment, process setup and tech transfer • Build practical data and automation workflows for monitoring, traceability and decision-making • Integrate GMP-minded documentation from the beginning (URS, risk-based assessments, validation planning, SOPs) • Design lean proof-of-concept systems that run in parallel with commercial platforms to test feasibility before major investment • Explore and implement continuous or connected bioprocess strategies in biotech, biopharma and precision fermentation Focus areas I build and optimise: Scalable bioreactor and liquid-handling workflows Process data, remote monitoring and automation systems (low-cost + compliant-mindset) Mass-balance and metabolic models to support parameter design and scale-up decisions Documentation frameworks and process clarity that operators and managers can actually use I believe effective innovation doesn’t need to be complex or expensive — it needs to be structured, testable and scalable. I’m open to new collaborations, project-based work, or full-time roles where bioprocess development, data, and practical engineering can drive real impact.
