ABOUT MCCARTNEY

Nic McCartney is the Architecture & Engineering Leader for AI, Data Centre and Networking for Cisco Services UK & I. This role encompasses the management and field enablement of the architects and engineers in these technologies, but also service development and technology innovation, incorporating areas such as system integration, automation, application development and AI.Nic has worked with Public Sector, Enterprise and Service Provider customers since the early 90\'s, joining Cisco in 1996, previously from StrataCom, Alcatel and AT & T. Nic is a TOGAF and IT-CMF certified Enterprise Architect and has vast experience in delivering transformational engagements with customers. From 2003 to 2015, Nic focused mainly on the National Security/Defence sector, developing military enterprise architectures and defence solutions for European Defence Ministries and Systems Integrators.He has consulted on many key defence programs across Europe, and led complex IT Strategy engagements for govt and commercial customers.In 2016 Nic broadened into the UK Enterprise sector, providing expertise to clients looking for Digital Transformation, IT Strategy and Innovation, Service & Information Assurance.In 2019, Nic became the Head of Customer Delivery for National Security, Defence & CNI+ UK & I, for Cisco Services (Customer Experience). He also created and led the cross-market Enterprise Architecture Practice.In his Delivery Leader role he was responsible for the financial P&L for delivering professional and support services in the National Security, Defence and CNI market sectors, and also line management and development of the Consulting Architects, Engineers and Delivery Manager teams delivering into these sectors.In 2022 Nic led the creation and establishment of Cisco UK’s secure CNI+ facility in Farnborough, and this formed part of his P&L and management responsibilities. This facility provides classified-level technical support services to the National Security and Defence market.In 2024, Nic moved into his current role.As a passionate and vocal advocate of equality and inclusivity in the workplace, in March 2023, Nic joined the board of the Women of Cisco UK & I inclusive community, as the Allyship Lead. The role is to encourage people to be allies by raising awareness and challenging unacceptable behaviour, or bias, inside the workplace.
