WORK HISTORY
Director of Creative Services @Shoot For Peace
Toronto, ON, CA
Shoot For Peace was launched in 2015, and began as a grassroots initiative in the Regent Park community with the belief that photography can offer different perspectives, build community, and provide new opportunities to underserved youth. Now, Shoot for Peace has flourished into a team of 20 staff and volunteers passionately delivering culturally-sensitive programming to Black and racialized youth from across the GTA. Over time, we have expanded beyond a photography program. We offer mentorship in a safe space, community development and arts workshops, events to improve mental health and wellbeing, as well as campaigns against Islamophobia and racism. shootforpeace.comig:@shootforpeace_

ABOUT NICKY REI ORENSTEIN
My view of the world and approach to my work is largely informed by my experience as a neurodivergent person and being a self-taught designer by trade. I encourage my clients and partners to seek truth and simplicity in their search for solutions to their challenges. My belief is that every problem, no matter the scale, can be stripped down to a single root question and your resolution and course of action will always reveal itself. Successful design is a process of stripping things away and uncovering essence. I help brands establish, fine-tune and reconnect to their core essence and translate how that can be expressed visually and tangibly to all facets of the branded experience. I have had the pleasure of working with some incredible people and teams over my career both in-house as well as externally facing on the agency side, currently at Carry Corp. As a team of brand consultants at CC, we are focused on growth from the inside and out. We work best with brands that are looking to redefine their relationships with customers by becoming more agile, transparent, and committed to fostering emotional connection. We believe that brands are individual ecosystems responsive to culture, both internally and externally- the future of commerce is values-based and purpose-driven.As a passionate advocate for wider accessibility and inclusive design, I am always looking for avenues to challenge myself to consistently raise the bar by utilizing design thinking to broaden creative considerations, challenge bias and address accessibility needs though my work. Today, I am most interested in opportunities where I can apply my knowledge and experience from building brands in the fashion, music and retail spaces to industries/areas of need that historically do not get the attention or creative investment that they deserve. I want to show that all of these considerations can be made while still delivering high level and competitive creative of visuals, products and experiences with heart that challenge the status quo.
