ABOUT NICKY MCCABE
Experienced NED with over 15 years’ cross-sector board experience alongside 25 years senior business experience in asset management, strategy consulting and as COO. I have particular interest in regulated financial services industries, investment trusts, diversity and inclusion and COO related areas. I am an NED on one fund management company (chairing compliance, risk & internal audit committee), an international life insurer and two investment trusts. My previous NED experience includes Fidelity International’s UK asset management companies, and as investor representative on healthcare services companies, including a hospital in China, and on engineering companies. As an executive, I had roles across asset management: in operations, investment, proprietary investment, distribution/product management and investment trusts. People describe me as a quick learner, able to analyse problems to surface underlying issues, seeing the practical solutions and operational risk to be dealt with, within the context of business strategy. I have widespread experience of balancing “run the organisation” while delivering large scale change. As an independent thinker, I strive to always do the right things in the right way for the right reasons for the good of the client and company, regardless of how tough that is. I have a particular passion for recruiting and developing diverse talent for the business. My influencing skills balance empathy towards board and management, with support and challenge. I am straight forward, easy to get on with, with a collaborative style.
