About Nicky Arrea
I am a Costa Rican student, part of the Ingram Scholar Program, at Vanderbilt University double majoring in Economics and Human and Organizational Development. I am the Co-founder of Compartamos la Mesa, a campaign that endeavors to decrease food insecurity in Central America by changing the region’s liability policies regarding food donation. As part of my work, I drafted and presented a bill to the Costa Rican Congress that has garnered the endorsement of the President of Congress. I have also been a guest speaker in conferences with audiences of up to people and featured on national media to discuss the social impact of the campaign – TEDx, Harvard University’s Igniting Innovation Summit, Global Issues Network, Youth Voice Podcasts, Canal 13, CR Hoy, Tico Times, La Prensa Libre, Monumental. I am certified in Babson College’s Entrepreneurship, Thought, and Action methodology and am distinguished as one of Harvard University’s Global Trailblazers.
