About Nick Sligh
I am a June 2023 graduate of Stanford University, where I received a Bachelor\'s Degree in Economics. Within Economics, I focused on Behavioral Economics & Market Design. In addition to Economics, I took substantial coursework in Psychology and International Relations.On campus, I had a few primary involvements. I was also an Arts & Life Writer and Music Columnist for The Stanford Daily, publishing over 100 total articles in my 4 years at Stanford. I was heavily involved with the arts in campus through writing and also through multiple jobs that I held on campus. As a FLI (First Generation/Low-Income) student, I was heavily involved with the FLI Community.I am currently an A&R/A&R Coordinator/A&R Scout at Def Jam Recordings under Universal Music Group. In my role, I’m responsible for talent scouting, music evaluations, and research & analytics for potential artist signees to the Def Jam Label. I provide thorough creative feedback, analysis, & reviews for unsigned and emerging talent to help our label identify the best creative and musical talent in the world. In addition to helping find new artists to sign to the label, I contribute to artist development for the current talent signed to the Def Jam roster, providing holistic creative and label support for certain Def Jam artists.Previously, I have interned with Warner Records/Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, RCA Records/Sony Music Entertainment, Comcast NBCUniversal, Procter & Gamble (P&G), the Brookings Institution, the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and the Stanford Law School.My work experience has given me a diverse array of skills and perspectives. Throughout my undergraduate years, I gained experience in-Creative experience in the Music/Entertainment Industry as an Artist Development Intern at Universal Music Group, an A&R (Artists & Repertoire) Intern with Warner Records/Warner Music Group, an A&R (Artists & Repertoire) Intern with RCA Records/Sony Music Entertainment, and as a Programming Strategy Intern at WarnerMedia-Business and Financial Analysis at some of the world\'s largest companies in Music (Warner Music Group), Media & Technology (Comcast NBCUniversal), and Consumer Packaged Goods (Procter & Gamble)-Economic and Policy Analysis for the World\'s leading Think Tank (The Brookings Institution) and one of the world\'s largest development finance institutions (The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation)-Conducting research at some of the World\'s top schools in both business and law (Stanford Graduate School of Business and Stanford Law School).
