I’m an environmental scientist, educator, and lifelong optimist committed to inspiring others to protect natural resources and build healthier communities.As Director of Science and Research for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), I support the broader scientific needs of the entire department. My role bridges science and policy, ensuring that data and research inform decisions that safeguard New Jersey’s environment and public health. My personal research background is in water resources, watershed hydrology, ecology, GIS, and data analysis. I’m especially passionate about the New Jersey Pine Barrens (Pinelands), a region whose unique landscapes and ecosystems continue to shape my scientific perspective and commitment to conservation.Whether mentoring future environmental leaders, advancing interdisciplinary collaboration, or translating complex science into actionable strategies, I strive to elevate the role of science in public service and empower others to do the same.
