Develops AWS OpenSearch (AOSS) Gateway and Security microservices, a service mesh that authenticates and routes billions of requests per day with availability. Led org-wide service discovery improvement project, eliminating 32K weekly request failures by: 1) building DNS record validation within Envoy Proxy, 2) implementing controls for system-level DNS caches, and 3) designing Gateway cache invalidation to prevent routing to stale domains. Resolved server crashes caused by networking constraints across thousands of nodes, cutting crashes from 50/day to 0 and restoring full logging and availability. Enhanced pre-auth API protection. Prevented unnecessary scaling and preserved availability under load. Designed a token-based auth layer for ElastiCache (Redis); reduced failure points and drove adoption across teams. Primary on-call for Gateway and Security; responsible for quickly mitigating outages, service health alarms, and customer escalations.
