In 2015 I published \"Cool Code Bro: Brogrammers, Geek Anxiety and the New Tech Elite,\" which took a critical look at Silicon Valley’s shifting monoculture and its impact on society.I\'ve written copy for Lady Gaga, hit a fastball pitched by John Rocker, and spoken at dozens of leading conferences and events, including SXSW Interactive, Cannes Lions (three times on the main stage), TED’s Ads Worth Spreading and more.    I look after Portland Community College\'s Community Education fly fishing program. Our approach is built around introducing folks who might never have considered themselves anglers to the life-enriching creative properties of fly fishing. We start in the classroom and then get hands-on, with a curriculum introducing the basics like casting a fly rod, and presenting a fly, and ultimately we visit local lakes and rivers on outings to help students put the theory into practice. Our goal is to help students get in touch with not just their own passion, to feel the stoke of fly fishing for the first time, but find their place in a bigger community and ecosystem.
