ABOUT NICKI CASTRO
I am a current MPH Health Policy and Management student at UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, passionate about advancing Black health through policy and systems reform. I received my bachelor\'s degree in Public Health with a minor in Child Development from CSU Chico.My professional and academic journey has centered on improving Black health and Black infant and maternal health, with a strong commitment to dismantling systemic barriers to care. I am interning with Black Women for Wellness, where I support community-based initiatives addressing health equity, and I will serve as a Randall Lewis Fellow with the African American Infant and Maternal Mortality Prevention Initiative, focusing on research, advocacy, and program development to reduce disparities in maternal outcomes.My goal is to prioritize equity and cultural competency in our health system. I am committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all communities.
