Provide strategic leadership for regulatory and policy matters and manage the regulatory team, government affairs and energy efficiency team for BHE.Served 7 1/2 years as a board member of the Iowa Utilities Board. Responsible for regulation of the rates and services of electric, natural gas, and water utilities, the services of communications utilities, and generally supervises all pipelines and the transmission, sale, and distribution of electrical current. As President of NARUC we focused on providing the expertise, tools and education commissioners require to be successful. As the industry evolves regulators must be prepared with the knowledge and skills to provide the leadership that is required.Roles served during commission: President of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), Committee on Gas, Washington Action Program, Committee on Critical Infrastructure, NARUC board and executive Committee, Treasurer for Smart Grid Interoperability Panel 2.0 (SGIP) and as a board member, Mid-America Regulatory Conference (MARC)- served as president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary, Treasurer of the National Council on Electricity Policy (NCEP), member of the Executive Committee, Critical Consumer Issues Forum (CCIF), member of the New Mexico State University Center for Public Utilities advisory committee.Over 15 years of professional experience in industrial controls and automation in roles from Controls Engineer to Director of Quality Management. Professional and management experience include project execution, facility energy and efficiency audits, and building control, programming, team management, project management, strategic planning, process improvement, quality management, continuous improvement and more. Served a 4 year term as a Marion City Council member and 2 terms (4 years) in the Iowa House of Representatives, served as ranking member and chair of the Local Government Committee and as vice chair of the Appropriations Committee. Also served on the Administration and Regulation Budget Sub Committee and the Commerce, Transportation, and Ways and Means Committees.
