About Nick Vasilyev
Nick has almost 20 years of diverse experience in IT, over the last few years he has been heavily focused on cloud development and building reliable systems in AWS while working at Amazon Robotics / OpsTech IT division. Supporting General Services Administration eCommerce division that supports applications such as GSA Advantage, eBuy, eLibrary, Catalog processing and ACR. So far I\'ve done the following:Team development- Conducted over 100 interviews / tech screens, worked with all the teams to establish a standard interview question bank for technical and general fit to increase the new hire bar. Established standard on-boarding checklists for faster on-boarding of new engineers- Mentor other engineers on best practices in software development and operations and encourage them to grow and experiment with technologies outside of their comfort zone- Collaborated with business stakeholder and technical teams to align on priorities and roadmaps- Lead the teams to implement frameworks for automated application testing with Selenium- Lead an effort across all teams to identify technical debt across our platforms and worked with the business line to allocate a fixed amount of capacity to address technical debtOperational Excellence- Lead the teams in modernizing operations tooling by implementing a modern day observability system (DataDog) and instrumenting key business applications. This resulted in us identifying root causes behind several known issues also finding several new issues and reduced operations issues by over 70%.
